Not Quite A Million Miles in A Thousand Years #story10

...but close.
I came across this post in Gizmodo today. 12,238 miles in 30 days ain't a bad attempt at matching Donald Miller's boldly-covered book.
It's about Nick Newcomen who decided pen & paper was too insignificant to scrawl his message across the United States, that could only be seen from space. So armed with his GPS logger, he set (or scribbled) out to send a message to the masses. "Read Ayn Rand" ...no, no I'm not kidding. Newcomen explains, "The main reason I did it is because I am an Ayn Rand fan," he says. (no duh?) But he goes on,  "In my opinion if more people would read her books and take her ideas seriously, the country and world would be a better place - freer, more prosperous and we would have a more optimistic view of the future." This reminds me of my own approaching road trip ahead. 3,243 over 8 days isn't a bad way to start, unfortunately, it doesn't spell anything, except maybe "O". That's about the most you can make of it, although, it does look like a Tyrannosaurus's head!! Starting September 19th, Vince Marotte and myself will be puttering through the purple mountains majesty and golden fields of grain in search of story!

Okay, I just realized that had double meaning, we're seeking out both "s"tory and "S"tory. "S"tory referring to the Story Conference of Chicago, IL. It's an exciting conference as creative minds around the country join together to dialogue and explore what our stories are. That's a pathetic description, but it's the best I can offer at this time, as I won't be fully aware what this conference offers until I get there and witness it for ourselves (and those of you who were at #echo10 know what I mean!). Anyway, it's going to be a crazy, awesome, emotional, dramatic, stupendous event! We can't wait to see you there, and those of you who are on the journey there and back again!

p.s. I've never had so many links in a single post. pathetic.
